The movie franchise first reared its head with ‘Episode IV: A New Hope’ back in 1977 and further films have been steadily hitting cinema screens ever since, albeit nonchronologically. According to a 2017 study, 47 percent of surveyed adults in the United States said that they had seen the 1983 movie ‘Return of the Jedi’, whereas just 34 percent said that they had watched ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, which was released in 2016.
